BMW-Bianchi’s Masters National Championship campaign was a huge success, highlighted by Cara Applegate’s gold medal in the Tandem Road Race with her husband Andy to defend their elite championship and to win silver in the mixed tandem road race! But Cara wasn’t finished there! She collected a 2nd silver medal in the criterium event. Evie Boswell-Vilt joined the fun bringing home a silver medal in the road race.
Erica Allar placed 3rd at the Fitchburg-Longsjo Classic criterium, in the 50th year of the prestigious stage race, with help from team workhorse Kirsten Davis. With this latest NRC podium finish, Allar is ranked 15th overall in the country!
Evie Boswell-Vilt represented the BMW-Bianchi in the category 3 races at Fitchburg-Longjo, placing 5th in the criterium and 3rd in the circuit race.
BMW-Bianchi dominated the Piedmont Triad Omnium in North Carolina with Tonya Lail and Evie Boswell-Vilt tying to win the overall title. Evie won the road race, and took 2nd, 3rd and 8th in the criterium, street sprints and time trial. Tonya enjoyed 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place finishes in the time trial, criterium, road race and street sprints. Laura Weislo posted a strong 4th-place time trial finish for the team.
At the North Carolina State Championships, Janet Edgerton took 2nd place in her age group in the road race, Evie Bowell-Vilt took 2nd in her age group and 6th in the women’s open road race, while Tonya Lail took 2nd in the criterium, 3rd in her age-group road race and 3rd in the NC State Games criterium.
Christy Blakely took the BMW-Bianchi show to Ohio and came home with a 3rd place finish at the Hyde Park Blast in Cincinnati and 5th place at the Tour de Grandview in Columbus."
